STEAM Project Newton's Marble Cradle

Because of COVID-19, I am being temporary laid off and my kids are out of children for a certain period of time. We have to do some home schooling.  Besides thinking about academic learning, I still need to think about something else to teach them, including art, physical activities, science experiment, etc.

One of the science activities we did is Newton's Cradle, my kids called Marble Cradle. We were going to experience the scientific theory of force and transformation of energy.

Truth to tell, it's a bit difficult than I expected.

Mini Sequin Swatch Cushion

All of sudden,  sequin swatch becomes so popular, you can find it on clothes, accessories like notebooks, backpack, pencil bags..... it's quite expensive as well.

I came across a piece of sequin swatch fabric while I was doing shopping. As it packed as craft material, it is relatively cheap.

First idea I came up with is making a mini cushion, my kids can keep it in their bedside, or even take it with them when we are having road trip.

It didn't take long to finish it and it is super easy to make it too. 'Hand-Sew', that is what I did.

I still have few pieces left, as I mentioned early it is relatively cheap, I gave them to my kids and let them have their creativity to make something out.

Can't wait to see what they make it out!

Fantastic!!! Genius!!! ~ Stuffed Animals Hammock Tulle

Stuff Animals never never enough for the kids, and as a three kids mom, I still buy the stuffed animals for them even I always tell myself  'don't buy it, they already have a lot'.

Looking at their treasury stuffed animals, I just don't want to throw it away, simply because too many, don't have space, or we can't keep all.....One day when they grow up, I believe they will make their decision to keep or throw away, but not today.

Today, they only want to keep ALL.

Today, SPACE is not a problem or concern for them.

As a mom, I really need to using my creativity to think, think, think ....

I came up with this idea - easy, simply and very cost-effective.

I call it "Stuffed Animals Hammock Tulle".
Genius way to keep all stuffed animals

DIY - How to make Rhinestone Headband by using Paracord technique

As I mentioned in my older posts that I make hairbows to sell, and at the same time I will custom made hairbows, hairclips and headbands for my two sweeties. As long as they tell me what style they like, I will try to mix and match the materials.

In couple times, I followed my thoughts and ideas to make something for them, even I am very satisfied on what I made but I found out that they like it and not really use it.

Like it because that is mom handmade for them.
Not use it because in deep down, the stuffs that I made for them not really suit their style.

Now I learn that only if they speak out or tell me, means they really want that.

This time my sweetie told me that she likes to wear headbands but not the elastic one. And she likes the headbands sparkle, just like tiara, she wants to be a princess all the times. SO I use......

1) Plain headbands, no pattern on it
2) Purple rhinestone (she likes purple)
3) 1mm cord or thread (I use rainbow-color)

Actually, I made one that just glue the rhinestones on it but after wear couple times, it is quite easily fall apart. I glued it again, it fell apart again after wear.

By using the basic paracord techniques (refer to my post on basic paracord bracelet), I tied the rhinestones with cord to make it really firm that it won't fall apart. IT WORK!!!!

First, using the super glue to glue the rhinestones on the headband.

Second, starting paracord! Just make sure in each knot, you have to adjust it to fit into the rhinestones and headband, it need to be tight.

DIY - How to make a Paracord Bracelet / Ankle Bracelet 04

How to make Solomon Cyclone Paracord Bracelet
How to make Paracord Bracelet

Wow Wow Wow...........Seeing my daughter already made few paracord bracelet for herself, I plan to make one for her secretly.

Right! This ONE!

But I guess she is not really like this pattern because she doesn't wear once, only keep it.

I think I tie the knots a little bit tight, otherwise, it should look better.

Anyway there are step-by-step photos that clearly show how to do the knotting. Have Fun!

For the basic Paracord Bracelet knotting, please refer to my post DIY - How to make a Paracord Bracelet / Ankle Bracelet.

Kids Craft - Origami Paper Folding Kits

Here comes another ready-to-make craft, ORIGAMI !!!

This origami paper folding kit only cost CAD$1.50, it comes with the scene and the colored-pattern folding paper with folding line on it.

Now my two sweeties are working on the Three Little Pig Origami Set, a brick house and a pig are finished. Once they finish all, I will post a finish-folding scene here.

SO.......What I do with my kids????

For my elder daughter, I let her follow the instruction to do the folding, I sit beside her and at anytime she can ask me about the difficult part. I also tell her how to fold it nice too.

For my little daughter, I show her the instructions (of course she doesn't know how to read it), and I tell her to follow the folding line to fold it.

They takes quite a little bit of time to finish folding. But I like it because the folding paper quality is good and it comes with all the folding line on it. Furthermore, they can choose what they like to fold it. (at least no fighting)

At this time, just have a look of what I bought!

DIY Projects - How to take care of Tutu Skirt / Dress

Once you start making your first tutu, you learn the basic skills, and most likely you will making the second, third, fourth...... tutu, also you may start adding different elements in it.

At the same time, many questions start coming out.....how to keep the wrinkle out? how to wash it? how to store it?

I would like to take this chance to share my way to handle or care with the tutu that I made for my little princess.

  • Better hang the tutu away from other items to avoid wrinkles. What????

Kids Songs - A Tisket, A Tasket

With this song, I like to hold a basket and pretend dropping a paper, my two-year-old daughter always laughing while the paper dropping, and she keeps picking it up. Simple but really interesting and fun for the kids.

A-Tisket, A-Tasket

A-tisket a-tasket
A green and yellow basket

I wrote a letter to my love
And on the way I dropped it

I dropped it
I dropped it
And on the way I dropped it

A little boy he picked it up and put it in his pocket
