DIY - How to make Rhinestone Headband by using Paracord technique

As I mentioned in my older posts that I make hairbows to sell, and at the same time I will custom made hairbows, hairclips and headbands for my two sweeties. As long as they tell me what style they like, I will try to mix and match the materials.

In couple times, I followed my thoughts and ideas to make something for them, even I am very satisfied on what I made but I found out that they like it and not really use it.

Like it because that is mom handmade for them.
Not use it because in deep down, the stuffs that I made for them not really suit their style.

Now I learn that only if they speak out or tell me, means they really want that.

This time my sweetie told me that she likes to wear headbands but not the elastic one. And she likes the headbands sparkle, just like tiara, she wants to be a princess all the times. SO I use......

1) Plain headbands, no pattern on it
2) Purple rhinestone (she likes purple)
3) 1mm cord or thread (I use rainbow-color)

Actually, I made one that just glue the rhinestones on it but after wear couple times, it is quite easily fall apart. I glued it again, it fell apart again after wear.

By using the basic paracord techniques (refer to my post on basic paracord bracelet), I tied the rhinestones with cord to make it really firm that it won't fall apart. IT WORK!!!!

First, using the super glue to glue the rhinestones on the headband.

Second, starting paracord! Just make sure in each knot, you have to adjust it to fit into the rhinestones and headband, it need to be tight.

Wow.......Just finished this year craft sale that held by different community.....

This is my first step of my home-based business, I am really satisfied the sale, not even the hairbow I sold, but also making friends with other crafters around my living areas.

I spend quite a lot of time in preparing these two months sales as I don't have any experience in doing the craft sale, thanks for my hushand over 100% support me and take care the kids, so that I can concentrate in all my handmade products.

How to make a Pom Pom Bow

How to make a Pom Pom Bow

1) Ribbon type: 3/8" grosgrain ribbon
2) Cut the ribbon 2" length with 30-35 pieces.
3) Remember to heat seal both end before start making the pom pom bow.
4) Fold in half to make a loop and secure the end with a small dot of hot glue.


How to Make a Korker Ribbon

This time I use two different size of wooden dowels to show how to make the korker ribbon. Here are the materials:

1) Wooden Clothespins
2) Wooden Dowels: 7/16" & 1/4"
3) Grosgrain Ribbon :3/8"

Second Method:

1) Take a piece of ribbon and fold it quarterly to make a crease.


2) To make the first loop, just hold the end of the ribbon and loop it down to the center, remember to reach the crease so that the loops can be made evenly. (pay attention to the ribbon's inside-out)

3) Do the same thing for the second loop, not like the classic boutique bow, you don't need to overlap and cross the first loop, just placing beside the first loop.

How to Make a Classic Boutique Hair Bow

Making a Boutique Style Hair Bow seems difficult but actually is not! This tutorial is really easy and no-sew technique is needed. Once you know the way and it only takes you about 15 minutes.

Ribbon Type: Grosgrain Ribbon 5/8inch
Ribbon Length: 45cm



















1) Holding one end of the ribbon and loop it down to the center.

2) Do the same for the second loop, the ribbon need to overlap and meet at the center.

3) In making a first and second loop, it is the same as making the long tail hair bow.

Grosgrain Ribbon (Purple - 7/8 inch)
Organza Ribbon (White - 5/8 inch)

Ribbon Length: 55cm (long tail)



Wrong measure (46cm) in ribbon length, the tail is too short! >.<

Ribbon Type:

Grosgrain Ribbon (Green - 5/8 inch)

Satin Ribbon (Red - 3/8 inch)

Ribbon Length: 40-45cm

The color is good for Christmas!

As it is the grosgrain ribbon, it looks more firm even the loop is smaller than the first one.

Materials Need to Make the Hair Bow

• Lighter: Heat seal ends of the ribbon so that they don't fray.
• Hot Glue Gun
• Alligator Clip: I prefer this clip as it is easier for my little girl to put on without asking my help.
• French Barrette
• Scissors
• Needle and Thread (any color): Assist in making the crease.
• Different Style of Ribbons
• Grosgrain Ribbon: A heavy, ribbed ribbon, made of polyester or silk. Available in different colors and width.
•  Satin Ribbon: A sleek, medium-weight ribbon that made of polyester or silk. Available in different colors and width.
• Stitched Ribbon: A ribbon that has a running stitch sewn along both edges.
